About

During my senior year of high school, I challenged myself to apply my design, photography, and writing skills in a real-world setting by joining the yearbook team. The experience proved to be both memorable and rewarding, allowing me to create award-winning, portfolio-worthy work while gaining early exposure to collaborating under deadlines and working with real-life “clients.”

The Trends Spread:

This was the first spread I ever created for my high school’s yearbook and one of my earliest fully independent projects. I designed the Trends Spread at the start of the year, before templates were established, which meant building the layout from the ground up. From concept to execution, I handled the design, photography, and copy for the entire two-page spread. The project was later submitted to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), where it earned a Gold Award, making it an especially meaningful milestone early in my creative journey.

Where running met design:

As captain of my high school’s Varsity Cross Country team, this spread was especially meaningful to me. It gave me the opportunity to highlight my teammates’ talent, dedication, and successes while combining two parts of my identity at the time: athletics and storytelling. Looking back now, as an ex-collegiate runner at Florida State University, this spread remains one of my favorites and marks where my journey as a student-athlete truly began.

Raising awareness:

For this spread, I covered my school’s Cancer Awareness Night, attending the event to capture photography and develop the accompanying copy. The spread highlights the range of activities offered for cancer survivors and their families, as well as the event’s broader mission of raising awareness and funds to support breast cancer research.

The Halloween spread:

For this Halloween spread, I photographed students and faculty who dressed up during the school day, capturing the creativity and humor of the event despite the limited time to shoot. I designed the layout, selected and edited the imagery, and wrote the accompanying copy to highlight standout costumes and activities, bringing the energy of the day into the final spread.
